In a previous blog, I told you about the impressive public records reporting being done at the Calaveras Enterprise, a local newspaper in San Andreas, Calif. Now, we have an update!
Reporter Claudette Langley wrote a great article on Jan. 25 about the newspaper’s push to get public records from officials in Calaveras County. As promised, the county held a meeting to discuss its policies and how they should handle requests.
Claudette sent me an e-mail Tuesday night with a link to her coverage of the meeting. Her story is called “Open records policies raise board’s brows.” I hope you will read it.
Once again, Claudette has done a public service by reporting on this important debate. Many newspapers would have fought this battle behind the scenes. I’m proud that this newspaper is bringing the debate to the light of day so their readers can understand and be part of the process, which is how it should be.
Kudos again, Claudette!
